Breath Dialogue is practiced as a ‘Hands-On’ session. During a breath dialogue the client lies fully clothed on a low padded table. The Practitioner sits on a stool beside the table and the dialogue begins by placing hands on the client’s body to connect with the client's natural breath. Through the practitioner's hands the client receives "invitations" posed to the breath in its undisturbed state. These invitations are offered to support the development of the natural breath throughout the whole body and its being. The natural breath responds to the invitations in its individual way, ultimately leading to an experience of the sensation of the movement of breath throughout the body.

The dialogue develops as a sequence of offers are made in the form of stretches and stimulations. The offers are intended to facilitate and support an experience of the physical sensation of breath movement in the body. As the client begins to experience the sensation of the movement of breath they will begin to develop an awareness that allows them to participate with the natural breath and its development.

In each session, the natural breath will develop in the precise and appropriate amount for the client to understand and integrate. It is through this integration that the client will begin to recognize and sense a new form of growth which brings him or her closer to balance and well-being. Patterns in breathing, physical structure, and general well-being will begin to shift as the client learns to allow the natural breath and participate in the growth it brings. Although the range for development is unlimited, the practitioner encourages a dialogue that meets the client where they are currently. This approach always supports an experience of breath based on the client’s current need so that the session will be readily integrated.

An individual session lasts one hour. Although clients can begin to experience results after one session, I encourage clients to start with a series of at least 5 - 10 sessions to support the process of integration and development.  This kind of consistency will support the emergence of new patterns that are inspired by the natural breath. These changes that come with the emergence of these new patterns will lead to balance, well-being, and improvement in health.
